ALLIANCE PRAYER REQUESTS June 23, 2008

JUNE PRAYER FOCUS: Pray for safety and fruitfulness in ministry for short-term mission teams that travel to Alliance fields.

Urgent Prayer Requests
GREAT COMMISSION FUND: Current giving to the GCF remains under budget. Pray for God's mighty provision. Pray that His Spirit will move
Alliance
people to give sacrificially despite a sagging economy and increased prices. Pray that God's grace will abound to C&MA church members so that they will be able to support His work around the world (2 Corinthians 9: . Praise God for all those who give to the Great Commission Fund!

GUINEA: Continue to pray for peace and stability in this country that has been plagued by turmoil. The police and customs officials went on strike, and the teachers have threatened to strike. In addition, several high officials have been taken hostage. Pray for God's intervention. Pray for permanent solutions to the nation's problems and for His grace until that happens. Pray for safety for Alliance
missionaries and national believers.

MALI: Pray for complete healing for Nancy Pierce, who underwent delicate surgery in the States for a tumor behind her left eye after suffering from a pulmonary embolism and blood clots. She continues to experience the blood clots, which pose a serious problem. Pray for wisdom for the doctors in administering the blood-thinning medication. Pray for a full and speedy recovery for Nancy and that God will be glorified. Praise God that a second operation will not be necessary and that Nancy
will not lose her eyesight.

RUSSIA: Continue to pray for the visa situation as many Alliance
missionaries will be applying for work or student visas during the next several months.

UPDATE: Continue to pray for the Creative Access Country worker who had a seizure. She had a good check-up with a neurologist. After concerns that she might have a spot on the back of her brain, the evaluation found that the spot was only a cyst. However, the doctors believe she has epilepsy.  Pray for her during this time of adjustment to new medication. The seizures should be able to be controlled with medication.

AFRICA

BURKINA FASO
: Pray for God's blessing on Dorcas House, a joint project of the mission and the Burkina Alliance Women. It will be a residential training center for girls "at risk."

Praise God! Emile, the guard at Dorcas House, was the first person to accept the Lord on the ministry site. Pray that he will grow in the Lord.

Pray for Lorinda Robinson as she travels with two other members of the National Sunday School Committee to visit the churches in three of their districts in early July. Pray for safe travel, a good time of fellowship, and profitable visits with the Sunday school leaders in those districts.

Sarah Diehl, from the Western Pennsylvania District (Bedford C&MA), will serve a two-year apprenticeship in Burkina. Pray for Sarah as she prepares to join the team. Also, pray that God will provide all the funds necessary for her to come and will take care of all the details.

Pray for missionaries in transition and on home assignment. Pray for safety and a fruitful ministry.

COTE D'IVOIRE: Pray for Randy and Deanna Harrison as they return from Burkina Faso to Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire
. Pray that all the details of this transition will fall into place. Also, pray for safety as they travel to the States for their daughter's wedding this summer.

GABON
: Pray for healing for Becki Thompson, who has been suffering from sore and inflamed eyes. The ophthalmologist has determined that her corneas are involved. If Becki's eyes do not improve significantly in the next week, she and David may have to make an emergency trip home. Pray for God's healing touch. This would be an inopportune time for the Thompsons to leave Bongolo and would cause hardship for the hospital team as well as the field.

GUINEA: Pray for Bob, a member of an Alliance
church, as he shares his faith with his unsaved relatives. Pray that God will give him a ready answer and that the Spirit will speak through him.

Pray for Alfa, a young boy who suffers from epilepsy. He burned his knee badly when he fell into a fire during a seizure. Alfa and his father have been coming to church but have not yet received Jesus. Pray that they will come to know Him.

Pray for God's comfort on a family that has lost a child. His aunt, a member of an
Alliance
church, is a believer. Pray that Mary, the boy's mother, also will receive Jesus.

ASIA/PACIFIC
CAMBODIA: Pray for Ah See, a young woman who needs surgery for a heart condition. Because of a dispute between doctors, the operation was canceled. Ah See is quite weak, and her relatives have been caring for her children. Pray that God will heal her. Pray for opportunities to share Christ in the village of Pu Chri
, where Ah See lives.

Pray for those who are working on land that an
Alliance
church purchased for a meeting place/training center. Pray for safety and strength for the workers.

Pray for the field conference that will be held July 8-13, for refreshment, encouragement, and a clear vision for the field.

Pray for healing and salvation for Cathy, the sister of an
Alliance
missionary. Pray that Cathy and her entire family will trust in Jesus.

Pray for complete healing for Janelle, who had a small tumor removed. Pray that it will not return.

Pray for Joyce Johns and Leang as they work together in a mentoring relationship. Pray for Leang's spiritual growth.

Pray for Soeuth and Syna Lao as they finish home assignment and prepare to return to the field. Pray for wisdom and discernment as they oversee church-planting ministries as well as part of the medical ministries (first response/ambulance services). Pray for protection and safety, because their ministry in
Cambodia
will require more travel.

INDONESIA
: Pray for missionaries who are in transition or on home assignment. Also, pray for a CAMA couple who will be returning to the States because of health needs.

Pray for Jim and Sharon Kendall as they present two seminars in early July for youth on healing relationships with their parents and another in mid-July on choosing a life mate and establishing a Christian home.

JAPAN
: Pray for weekly Bible studies led by Dale and Heidi Lemke as they reach out to university students in their city. Pray for a Bible study they lead and for a new convert, Hitomi.

Praise God for the salvation of Seiko, a young mother in a seekers' group led by Nathan and Tomoko Long and Jane Landaw. Pray for her baptism in September, and pray that her husband will also accept the Lord. Pray for the salvation of six other young mothers in this group.

Pray for the summer camp preparations at
Kawaguchi Church
. Also, pray for the monthly outreach to young mothers June 27.

THAILAND: Pray for a short-term team from Florida
that is ministering with Team Isaan this week. The team members are teaching English at a local school and working with a new church plant. Pray that this team will be a blessing to the church plant. Also, pray that the team's service in the school will help the church develop a good reputation within their community so that the gospel will continue to spread.

Pray for Kalie, Jim and Kathy Sappia's daughter, who recently had blood work done for allergies. Pray for complete healing and that she will sleep better at night. Pray also for their daughter Hannah, who suffers from clogged ears and has trouble hearing well.

EUROPE/MIDDLE EAST
BALKANS: Pray for Petula Myers as she transitions to another city July 5. Pray for open doors to minister in her new neighborhood.

Pray for good weather for an English day camp this week. More than 80 children have registered. Pray that the Lord will use this camp to draw the children, the volunteer workers from the English school, and the youngsters' parents to Him.

Pray for Christine Queer as she continues in language study. Pray especially for comprehension in listening.

GERMANY
: Praise God! Ben and Sarah Carey now have a baby girl, Hannah Elizabeth. Thanks to all who prayed!

RUSSIA
: Pray for JB and Iris Hecock as they continue to build relationships with those who attended their English Café and women's outreaches.

Alan and Trish Eggleton request prayer for their church as several key members will transition to other ministries. Also, pray for a handful of others who have walked away from God. As the church reaches out in love to them, pray that they will choose to live out God's truth in their lives.

Pray for Vadim Shpakov, a new member of the Eggleton's church who was recently baptized. Vadim also is organizing a mini rock-climbing camp. Pray that non-Christians will attend and that it will be a great time of connecting with the Creator.

.  Pray for their spiritual growth.

Pray for Joel and Nancy Martinez and for Tim and Marilyn Westergren as they complete ministry responsibilities and leave for home assignment in early July.

Four families have visa applications in process. Pray for a speedy approval of the needed paperwork.

Pray for Raymond and Mary Ebbett as they return to ministry in
Spain
and come up to speed on national church matters.  Pray for wisdom for Raymond as he deals with some challenges that have surfaced.

Pray for creativity and faith as Raymond works with field leaders to fine-tune the new field operating budget. Major cutbacks will be needed to make ends meet.

LATIN AMERICA

BRAZIL: Pray for the mission team and the C&MA national church as plans are under way to transition Alliance missionaries out of Brazil within the next five years.

Praise God for the growth of the
Petropolis Church
! The congregation has moved out of its rented hotel conference room and has moved into a store front on the same avenue. For about the same price they had been paying for the hotel, the church members will have almost double the space. Thank the Lord for His provision!

COLOMBIA
: A widow who is seeking the retroactive pension of her late husband from the Social Security office received the answer that she will be awarded this money. Praise God for His intervention. Pray also that the woman will receive the money soon, because it could take many months for the payment to be processed, and her lawyer already is demanding his percentage. Pray for healing of her broken heart.

CHILE: Pray for Michael Strecker as he assumes responsibility as field director at the end of June. Pray for Michael and Linda as they make adjustments to their team ministries at the Church of the Vineyard.  In addition, Bob and Cheryl Fugate (fellow team members) will leave Chile

Pray for follow-up of those who came to the Church of the Vineyard's inauguration service. Pray that God will use this event to bring them to Himself.

The Friday evening before the inauguration, Raúl, a man who had participated in the church's English program last year, died in a motorcycle accident. He leaves a wife,
Carolina, and two sons. Pray that Carolina
and her boys will meet Jesus in a personal way.

.

Rosedale C&MA Church as it goes through a difficult time dealing with financial needs. Pray for God's provision and that His bounty will be evident in Rosedale
's ministry.

Pray for Bryon and Vicki Bukovesky as they cope with the loss of Vicki's father last Saturday. Bryon is the pastor at
Antioch Alliance Church in Sutton, West Virginia
.

CHAPLAINS: Pray for
Alliance
military and institutional chaplains. Even chaplains not deployed in combat areas are exposed to difficult situations and face stress daily.

MIDAMERICA DISTRICT: Continue to pray for the many families that have lost homes, businesses, and crops in the flooding along the
Mississippi River
. Church families that have been affected are being ministered to by those in the church body, and believers are helping in the outreach efforts to families outside the church who have experienced flood damage.

CREATIVE-ACCESS COUNTRIES: Remember CAC workers around the world. Pray for protection as well as for opportunities to share the good news. Pray that contacts will be drawn to Jesus. Pray that God will prepare new CAC workers spiritually, physically, and emotionally for their ministries.
